Arts & Culture

Artistic and cultural experiences enrich your life and spark your creativity. Whether you participate directly or enjoy being inspired by others, opportunities to get involved are everywhere – at the University, in the City of Chicago, and in our surrounding neighborhoods.

Dozens of student-run organizations, ensembles, troupes, and cultural/ethnic groups are active on campus. You also can explore UChicago programs in Cinema & Media, Literary, Music, Performance, and Visual Arts.

On campus, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and International House are home to a wide variety of performing and visual arts events. Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, the spiritual center of the University of Chicago, is a leading venue for the choral arts, and a prominent event location for major speakers and international artists. At International House, the Global Voices Performing Arts Program showcases individual artists and performing arts groups, and supports educational programs, art exhibitions, and cultural celebrations. A few blocks from campus, the arts are alive in the Hyde Park community. Discover music festivals, art fairs, museums, theaters, and more all through the year.

Through grants and other initiatives, the University of Chicago Arts Council funds a wide variety of programs across the University. The Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts advances arts practice, inquiry, and presentation at the University of Chicago, and fosters meaningful collaboration and cultural engagement at the university, on the south side, and in the city of Chicago. The Logan Center has integrated classroom, performance, and exhibition spaces for the entire University community.

Enjoy our vibrant culture; it is full of options for you to explore.
