Service in Community

When you serve others, you also hone important personal and professional skills and learn to understand yourself within a broader context. You make a difference in peoples’ lives – and in your own.

From the University’s founding in 1890, students have understood the importance of service, so much so that the University Community Service Center (UCSC) developed as a student-run organization.

Today, UCSC is a formalized program within the Office of Civic Engagement. It supports community service organizations, develops and manages internships, and runs leadership programs – all dedicated to connecting you with our neighbors in the greater Chicago community. Students continue to volunteer in record numbers, and the University has wonderful partnerships with our surrounding communities.

Deepen your university experience. Visit the UCSC website to learn about service and learning activities on campus and in the surrounding community.
