The University of Chicago will host the 11th Annual Clinton Global Initiative University Meeting, October 19–21, 2018.
The Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) meeting—hosted by President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton—will convene undergraduate and graduate students from 145 countries and all 50 states at the University of Chicago to discuss and develop ideas and proposals to address some of the most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the next generation. Over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students from around the world participate in the weekend meeting, where the focus is generally on five areas: education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. After two days of working sessions and special events, the meeting concludes with a Day of Action, when student participants support an ongoing project in the local community.
Students interested in attending CGI U can submit their applications until April 23. As part of the application process, students must develop and propose Commitments to Action, new, specific, and measurable initiatives that address societal issues near their campuses, in their local communities, or around the world.
Join us for an information session* to learn about CGI U, the application process, and potential volunteer opportunities. Food and drinks will be provided. Note: Previously, we had noted that capacity at SSA was limited, but that is no longer the case as we have expanded the capacity of the room.

Find a Team
While individuals may apply to CGI U, teams (up to three students) are highly recommended. To help facilitate team formation, we have created a team-building spreadsheet and encourage those looking to participate in CGI U to add their details to the spreadsheet and to check it regularly for updates. Please note: Students are expected to initiate contact with individuals listed on the spreadsheet. The CGI U Planning Committee will not be brokering team formation.
