The Woodlawn Residents Association has partnered with Chicago Public Art Group to create a community mural that pays homage to the local labor history. The mural — Woodlawn Works — will transform the railroad underpasses between 66th and 67th streets and Dorchester Avenue.
CPAG Core Artists Rahmaan Barnes, Damon Reed, Max Sansing, and Bernard Williams will act as co-lead artists, as they engage neighbors, assistant artists, and students in the tradition of mural art. They are seeking student volunteers to help work on the project on:
• Friday, October 23, from noon to 2 p.m., and 2 to 4 p.m.
• Saturday, October 24, 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m., and 2 to 4 p.m.
Volunteers will meet at 67th Street under the viaduct.
