On January 6th, 2015, UChicago released its Report on the Committee of Freedom of Expression to address issues where the right to "speak, write, listen, challenge and learn" clashes with an essential need to "maintain a climate of mutual respect and civility." The topic has sparked many debates and conversations on our campus, and this event seeks to work through in in both theory and practice. Can there be an ethic of free speech?
Not Just Another Panel! Finding an Ethic of Free Speech Together will be held in Swift Hall on April 22 from 4:30-6:30 P.M. This event is part of Spirit Week (April 21-27) and is sponsored by the Institute of Politics, Spiritual Life, and the University Community Service Center.
