Building upon the already robust College Orientation program, OMSA will collaborate with the College Programming Office to introduce the incoming Class of 2020 to our University’s value of inclusion. As part of the series of Chicago Life Meetings, incoming students will participate in two interactive sessions encouraging them to 1) challenge their own assumptions and reflect on the diversity of experiences and perspectives they bring to campus and 2) understand their social responsibility to support community values through Bystander Intervention.
In order to ensure participants engage in meaningful learning, OMSA is seeking 67 staff members and graduate students to co-lead these sessions for groups of 15-25 incoming students on Monday, September 19, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm and Tuesday, September 20, from 10:30am-12:30pm. Interested staff members and graduate students will be required to participate in a full-day professional development training on dialogue facilitation and the session curriculum.
