Seeking Student Applications for University-wide Committees and Boards

Campus and Student Life and the Office of the Provost are seeking student applications for a number of important committees and boards for the 2017-18 academic year, as well as the position of Associate Student Ombudsperson. These positions provide students with the opportunity to work directly with faculty and staff, better understand University governance, and provide student input on important matters affecting the University.

The deadline to appy for the 2017-2018 academic year has passed. 

Faculty Board for Campus and Student Life – Student Representative

The Faculty Board for Campus and Student Life is a statutory board that advises and makes recommendations to Campus and Student Life and the Provost’s Office on matters affecting campus and student life at the University.  The Board is seeking two students (representing the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools) to serve a term of one academic year. 

Independent Review Committee for the University of Chicago Police Department

The Independent Review Committee (IRC) reviews complaints against the UCPD, police reports and related policy, and procedural and communication issues. The Committee is seeking three students (representing the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools) to serve a term of one academic year. 

University-wide Student Disciplinary Committee

The University-wide Student Disciplinary Committee is a standing committee appointed by the Office of the Provost and includes faculty, students, and staff specifically educated to resolve formal complaints under the Policy on Harassment, Discrimination, and Sexual Misconduct. The Committee is seeking students (representing the College, graduate divisions, and professional schools) to serve a term of one academic year.

The Office of the Provost’s Sexual Misconduct Advisory Board

The Office of the Provost’s Sexual Misconduct Advisory Board is a group of students that meets twice a quarter in order to serve as a liaison between the Office of the Provost and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students regarding sexual misconduct. The purpose of the advisory board is to provide student perspectives and input on policies, procedures, and programs pertaining to sexual misconduct. The advisory board will be chaired by Shea Wolfe, Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students and Associate Dean of Students in the University. 

Associate Student Ombudsperson

The Associate Student Ombudsperson is a part-time, paid position with an average work schedule of 10 hours per week. The position is paid on an hourly basis at a competitive rate. The Associate Student Ombudsperson works closely with the Student Ombudsperson to investigate student grievances when the existing channels of communication or dispute resolution have proven unsatisfactory.
