Standing in Solidarity: LGBTQ Student Life hosting a gathering on June 13

June 13, 2016

LGBTQ Student Life is hosting a gathering in solidarity with those impacted and affected by the mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As many of you may know, Pulse is an LGBTQ venue. As such, this horrific incident hits close to home for those at UChicago and beyond who experience queer and trans identities. Additionally, this shooting happened during Pulse’s “Latin Night” undoubtedly impacting queer and trans communities of color. All are welcome and encouraged to participate, including allies, on Monday, June 13 at 3:30pm in the Community Lounge at the Center for Identity + Inclusion, 5710 S. Woodlawn Ave. We will have open sharing, listening, and light refreshments. Staff members from the University’s Spiritual Life Office and Student Counseling Services (SCS) will also be in attendance and available to provide support.

SCS staff are also available to provide individualized support to students impacted by these horrific events. Please visit counseling.uchicago.edu for more information about making an appointment to meet with a counselor or reaching the after-hours Therapist on Call.
