This session will be highly interactive and will focus on cross-cultural communication skills. With students and scholars from almost 100 countries at the University, many cultural influences come together in pursuit of a wide range of goals: academic success, administrative matters, day-to-day responsibilities, social engagement, maintaining our health and wellness, and much more. We will examine how culture influences communication styles, how to think about communication with specific international populations on campus in light of these cultural backgrounds and needs, and how to become more aware as cross-cultural listeners and communicators. Participants will come away with an enhanced sense of cross-cultural communication and resources for further reading and study.
