Campus North is Topped Off

The Campus North Residential Commons project marked an important milestone recently with a topping off ceremony that gathered employees and staff from the University of Chicago, Mortenson Construction, and Studio Gang Architects.

The groups signed a large steel beam and cheered as it was lifted into place on the 15-story building. Construction is due to be completed in fall of 2016, in time to house College students near the center of campus.

University of Chicago names Fountain L. Walker chief of police

Walker, an accomplished and widely respected leader in law enforcement and campus security, has been named chief of police at the University of Chicago after a national search, effective Aug. 17. Rainy skies cleared seemingly on cue as members of the University of Chicago community gathered Saturday, June 13, for the University’s 523rd Convocation.

Soft morning light fell upon the nearly 3,000 graduates as they processed across the Main Quadrangle to the wail of bagpipes and occasional cheers rising from the crowd of parents, friends and colleagues.

UChicago Dining: A Good Place To Eat Gluten Free

Following a gluten free diet at UChicago has just gotten easier. With the implementation of the new, certified Gluten Free Station at Cathey Dining Commons, students and staff who suffer from Celiac Disease or are otherwise gluten intolerant have a way to ensure they can eat safely. Before this year, they had to be very careful about choosing food in the dining halls and worrying about the possibility of cross contamination.
