All University of Chicago students are invited to reflect on and discuss critical issues in our shared civic life, such as inequities and disparities in healthcare, education, housing, employment and more during "ENGAGE: What Is Our Civic Responsibility?", an event taking place from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, at 5710 Woodlawn (OMSA).
SG hosts Career Forum on Thursday, February 7

Student Government at the University of Chicago will host a career forum on Thursday, February 7, from 5-6 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Lounge in the Reynolds Club. The forum will focus on career education, opportunities for graduates and undergraduate students, and recent initiatives.
Hoops for Hyde Park fundraiser and clothing drive at basketball games tonight

The University of Chicago Women's Athletic Association will host their annual Hoops for Hyde Park Schools event this year at the women's and men's basketball games against Case Western, which begin at 6 and 8 p.m. The Order of the "C" will also host a clothing drive and raffle fundraiser at the event.

In a presentation from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, January 28, at International House, Alex Lickerman, MD, will discuss whether resilience is something that individuals can learn. Lickerman, drawing on the tenets of Buddhism and new scientific research, argues that resilience is something we can all take action to develop.

You can still participate in the national MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 21, by finding opportunities through the national website. Days of service and volunteer referrals are also available through UCSC throughout the academic year.
Foreign students find a home for the holidays

More than 150 international students experienced a classic American Thanksgiving last week through the Thanksgiving Homestay Program run by the International House at the University of Chicago. The program paired students from the University of Chicago and several other Chicago-area schools with Illinois families who hosted the students and their families for the Thanksgiving weekend.
