Campus North Residential Commons Honored by American Architecture Prize

October 12, 2017

Campus North Residential Commons is a winner of the 2017 American Architecture Prize, which honors architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture projects for their design excellence, innovation, and function.

Designed by Studio Gang Architects, Campus North was noted for offering “social spaces and experiences that enhance campus and academic life for today’s undergraduates.” Home to roughly 800 undergraduates, Campus North was designed with UChicago’s House system in mind, and each House is structured around a three-story lounge, where students can meet, study, and relax. Campus North was also lauded for being a gateway to the University and “strengthening connections between students and the surrounding community.”
