As was previously announced, the President and Provost have canceled all classes and non-essential activities at Chicago locations for Wednesday, January 30, due to extreme weather. Please see below for further information on Campus and Student Life programs.
Student Health and Counseling Services
- Student Health and Counseling Services will be open for urgent cases and urgent walk-ins only through 12 p.m. on January 31. Students with non-urgent appointments on Wednesday will be contacted to reschedule.
- Students with medical questions may call Student Health Service at 773.702.4156 during business hours (8 a.m.–6 p.m.)
- After 6 p.m., students can reach the Nurse Line at 773.702.4156 to speak with an experienced registered nurse.
- Students experiencing a mental health crisis can reach the Student Counseling Service at 773.702.9800 during business hours (8.30 a.m.-5 p.m.). After hours, a therapist-on-call is available at 773.702.3625.
- Students needing immediate treatment of very serious or critical conditions should contact 911 or go to the University of Chicago Medicine’s Emergency Department located at 5656 South Maryland Avenue.
Dean-on-Call and Sexual Assault Dean-on-Call
- The Dean-on-Call and Sexual Assault Dean-on-Call services will be available and can be reached by calling (773) 834-HELP (4357).
January 29
- All Residential Dining Commons (Cathey, Baker, and Bartlett) will remain open for normal business hours.
- 4th Meal is cancelled.
- Hutchinson Commons and Pret A Manger in Reynolds Club will close at 8 p.m.
- Midway Market and Maroon Market will close at 8 p.m.
January 30
- All Residential Dining Commons (Cathey, Baker, and Bartlett) will remain open for normal business hours.
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided at International House/Tiffin for I-House residents.
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided at Stony Island for Stony Island residents.
- Complimentary hot chocolate and coffee will be provided at Stony Island for Stony Island residents.
- 4th Meal is cancelled.
- All academic cafés except Tiffin Café in I-House are closed. Tiffin Café will remain open.
- Hutchinson Commons and Pret A Manger in Reynolds Club are closed.
- Midway Market and Maroon Market are closed.
January 31

Campus Programs and Events
January 29
- Ida Noyes Hall will close at 5 p.m. Any events and meetings scheduled for after 5 p.m. have been cancelled.
- Reynolds Club will close at 8 p.m. Any meetings scheduled for after 8 p.m. have been cancelled. All UChicago Dining locations in Reynolds Club will close at 8 p.m. as well.
- Cobb Coffee Shop, Ex Libris Café, Hallowed Grounds, and Harper Café will close by 7:30 p.m.
January 30
- All campus activities and programs, including events at Rockefeller Chapel, International House, Ida Noyes Hall, and Reynolds Club, are cancelled.
January 31
- Ida Noyes Hall and Reynolds Club will open at 12 p.m. Any events and meetings scheduled for before 12 p.m. have been cancelled.
January 29
- Ratner will close at 9 p.m.
- Henry Crown will close at 9:30 p.m.
January 30
- Ratner and Henry Crown will be closed and all Athletics and Recreation activities are cancelled. These include varsity team practices, sport club and intramural activities, fitness classes, and personal training appointments.
January 31
- Ratner will be open from 12 p.m.–12 a.m.
- Henry Crown will be open from 12 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
- All activity for varsity, club, intramurals, fitness classes and personal training will resume at noon.
