I-House Expands Diplomatic Encounters Series

January 21, 2016

The University of Chicago's International House, Institute of Politics, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and other area studies centers are joining forces with the Chicago Consular Corps to expand the Diplomatic Encounters series to better connect the UChicago community with representatives of diplomatic missions from around Chicago and across the nation. The series will aim to provide a venue to hear from leading diplomats, engage them in open dialogue, and come to a better understanding of the issues, challenges, and opportunities facing countries around the world. Programs for the series will be held throughout the academic year.

The first program in the series will feature a talk by Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, the Counsul General of India, and a screening of India Awakes, a 60-minute documentary that follows three individuals who are working to improve their lives, and in the process, break down the centuries-old caste system in India. The program will be held on January 21 from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM in the Assembly Hall of International House.
