The University will begin operating a new shuttle route that provides service to the Metra stations near campus, several destinations along 59th and 60th streets, and the University of Chicago Medicine’s campus.
The Midway Metra Shuttle will operate Monday through Friday during the morning rush (5:38–9:40 a.m.) and evening rush (3:30–6:40 p.m.) periods, with approximately 12 minutes between shuttles. Service on this route begins Monday, May 30, 2016.
The Midway Metra Shuttle will pick up and drop off riders at the 57th Street and 59th Street Metra stations and travel as far west as Cottage Grove Avenue and pick up and drop off riders at several points at the medical center, as well as stops along 59th and 60th streets.
This new University shuttle route is similar to the CTA 170 bus route. The University announced in January that it will no longer subsidize the CTA 170 due to steadily declining ridership. The CTA’s Board voted to eliminate the route in April. The last day for service on the CTA 170 is Friday, May 27.
