Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Ron Suskind exposed the barriers to accessing higher education in his first book, A Hope in the Unseen: An American Odyssey from the Inner City to the Ivy League. The biographical novel highlighted issues of race, gender, and class just as the conversation about college access was gaining momentum. Suskind will further that conversation in his lecture, which is part of the RISE series, detailing how advocacy for social justice in the U.S. higher education system might effect lasting change.
The event will take place on Friday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. and is free to all. It will be in the SSA Lobby at 969 E. 60th Street.
