The UChicago campus may be in a spring break lull this week, but the quiet will soon give way to a bustling Spring Quarter. Campus and Student Life units have a wide range of programming on the horizon, designed to engage, inspire, and support students both academically and personally.
The first week of the quarter will feature the grand opening of Student Disability Services’ new testing center on South Campus. After utilizing more than 50 locations across campus, SDS is excited to open a dedicated facility designed to better support students. Stop by on March 25 to tour the space and learn more about what it has to offer.
A strong physical and emotional well-being is paramount to a student’s success. UChicago Student Wellness offers a wide spectrum of health services and programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. This includes a new relational support group for international students, Between Worlds. As organizer Yiyu Cheng, PhD, describes it: “Between languages, cultures, and versions of self, this group becomes a shared home—where stories are witnessed, identities are reclaimed, and connection softens the distance of being far from where we began.”
Student Wellness staff will also share their expertise with the broader campus community through the Maroon Mental Health Matters training program. Tailored specifically to UChicago, this program equips faculty, staff, and students with the skills to support someone experiencing mental health distress or crisis.
Another way to give back to the community this quarter is by signing up for the University Community Service Center’s annual Earth Day of Service. Following an on-campus kickoff breakfast, participants will join community organizations across South Side neighborhoods to take part in eco-focused service projects. In addition to engaging in meaningful work, participants will also learn more about the organization and its volunteer opportunities.
For more ways to get involved, visit the New RSO Fair on March 26 from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Cloister Club in Ida Noyes Hall. This event will highlight new RSOs that have officially joined the UChicago community for the 2025–2026 academic year. In addition to meeting these organizations, students can connect with CLI Involvement Ambassadors, who will be tabling to help guide students in finding opportunities that align with their passions and goals. Attendees can also enjoy Molly’s Cupcakes and a Build-A-Plushie station.
If you’re already involved in an RSO but looking to step into a leadership role, consider signing up for ASPIRE, a leadership program focused on developing leadership identity, practical RSO management skills, and personalized growth plans.
For those needing a reset amid busy schedules, Rockefeller Chapel offers an eclectic slate of events that give students a chance to pause and recharge. Recenter yourself at one of the yoga and meditation classes hosted in partnership with Spiritual Life, or let the sounds of the E.M. Skinner Organ wash over you as you sip chamomile tea at the weekly Tea & Pipes concerts. On April 3, don’t miss the Chapel’s presentation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. John Passion, performed by the Rockefeller Chapel Choir and Motet Choir alongside a professional Baroque orchestra. Student admission is free.
On March 26, Spiritual Life will also be collaborating with UChicago Dining on their annual Eid al-Fitr Celebration, the joyous Muslim holiday marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. Celebrate the art of expression by creating beautiful Eid cards for yourself and someone special.
Looking toward the end of the quarter, UChicago Dining will host two marquee events: a Cinco De Mayo celebration and the city’s second-most-famous “palooza”: Berry Palooza. On May 20, celebrate all things berry at what has become a beloved end-of-year tradition.
With more events to be announced in the coming weeks, this is just a taste of what promises to be an exciting Spring Quarter. Whether you are looking for opportunities to self-reflect, engage with the community, or eat copious amounts of berries, CSL units have something for everyone.
