University of Chicago's Institute of Politics, Harris School of Public Policy and NBC 5 are excited to announce the availability of tickets to the Illinois Republican Gubernatorial Primary Forum at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts' Performance Hall at 6:00 pm on March 4, 2014.
Current UChicago students will have the first chance to get tickets, starting at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25. Students should come in person to the Logan Center box office, 915 E. 60th Street, with their current UChicago student IDs. One ticket will be available for each student with an ID. A limited number of tickets is available. The Harris School of Public Policy will conduct a separate lottery among their students, with specific instructions forthcoming via email. Tickets are free of charge.
Ticket access will open to the general public on Wednesday, February 26, starting at 12:00 pm. Attendees can get tickets online at ticketsweb.uchicago.edu, by phone at 773-702-ARTS or in person at the Logan Center box office, which is open from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The limit for ticket distribution to the general public is two tickets per person.
Please note that audience members’ bags will not be allowed in the Performance Hall. To ensure a smooth check-in, the organizers encourage attendees to leave bags at home. Doors to the Hall will open at 4:45 pm and close at 5:15 pm.
All four candidates in the Republican primary – Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, Bruce Rauner and Dan Rutherford – have confirmed their participation in the 60-minute forum, which will be broadcast live at 6:00 pm on NBC 5 (WMAQ-TV) and on the IOP's website, politics.uchicago.edu. The event will include an additional 30-minute question-and-answer session with the audience at the end. The event will feature a moderated roundtable-conversation format in which candidates will respond to questions by award-winning broadcast journalist and NBC 5 Political Editor Carol Marin.
Organizers from UChicago and NBC 5 will consider questions submitted in advance of the forum via social media. A select few social media users' questions will be chosen for inclusion in the live debate. These users will be invited to attend the event and ask their questions directly to the candidates. When submitting questions in advance or commenting during the debate, please use the Twitter hashtag #ILGovTalk.
Following the forum from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm, NBC5 will host a Google Hangout featuring local political commentators and UChicago students and faculty. If you are a UChicago student and you would like to join in the Google Hangout, please complete this form: http://goo.gl/7CW4eZ
The forum will be open to all members of the press. UChicago will provide a room for media to watch the event and to cover any post-event media availabilities at 7:30 pm.
