Voices in Your Head, a student-run a cappella group at UChicago, had the chance to show off their talents during the 2015 White House Holiday Tour on Sunday, December 13.
The RSO performed two hour-long sets featuring holiday classics and a segment from their set that took second place at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella as guests admired holiday decorations at the White House. The highlight of the day, though, was giving a private performance for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
“To be able to perform . . . for the President and First Lady was an unforgettable experience for us, and one that we will cherish for a very long time,” says group president Sophia Lin.
The group applied to perform at the White House at the end of the summer, and were “absolutely ecstatic” to learn they’d be heading to Washington, Lin says.
